Why Kamala Harris could lose the election
A few years ago I predicted a Trump win. I was thrown out of some Democrat leaning groups as a result. With the voters in echo chambers, it is hard to step above the fray and take a bird’s eye view of the situation. IMO, Kamala will lose due to these five issues.
The Economy: “It is the economy stupid”- James Carville a Democrat strategist said this famously and it still rings true. Inflation, which many believe came into focus due to supply chain issues from the Ukraine war, continues to plague the nation despite the efforts by Powell to tame it. A major voting block, i.e Seniors are the most impacted by inflation. Housing affordability continues to be a challenge as a result of elevated interest rates. Although big employment numbers are touted, there is concern that the employment numbers may be inflated because of the doubling counting of the multiple jobs voters are forced to take on to put food on the table.
Biden: Surprise Surprise!!! Despite all the bonhomie on TV, all is not well in the Democratic establishment. Biden really did not want to step aside but was forced out, with Pelosi and Obama leading the charge. Kamala’s campaign has tried to distance her publicly from Biden and use Biden very selectively for campaigns. On the other hand, Biden has been making statements to the effect that Kamala is part of all the decisions he has made.
Palestine conflict and the Youth Protest Vote: The youth have not taken well to the fact that gentle grandpa became Genocide grandpa, and beat them up brutally in college campuses. Wherever “Genocide Joe” showed up for Kamala, be it fund- raisers, town halls or rallies, the youth showed up too, in large numbers, to protest. A large majority of the Democrat youth are seeing a genocide and another never- ending war in Ukraine, which is sucking billions of tax- payer money, while they are struggling with student loans and staring at an uncertain financial future. The initial enthusiasm for Kamala among the youth has fizzled out, as they are realizing that Kamala is not very different from Biden on war -mongering. The Abandon Biden movement has transitioned to an Abandon Harris movement. There is however a minor consolation for Harris, as the abortion issue will keep some of the female youth voters in the Kamala camp.
Third Party Candidates: This ties into the anti-war protest movements and brutal crackdown on the youth in US campuses. The third-party candidates, especially Jill Stein could take away a ton of Democratic votes as she received the endorsement of the Abandon Harris movement. Netanyahu has not made things easier for Biden either. Israel’s actions seem to take center stage diluting the Harris campaign’s visibility. Moreover, Netanyahu’s actions are bringing more voters into this camp in addition to this camp in addition to the Arab and Muslim voters in swing states.
Trump campaign: The Trump campaign has been able to keep the focus on the Biden administration’s flaws and effectively tie them to Harris. For instance, the campaign used the Biden/Harris administration’s hurricane response very effectively. “They’re offering them $750, to people whose homes have been washed away. And yet we send tens of billions of dollars to foreign countries that most people have never heard of”- Trump spoke at a rally in Pennsylvania. Irrespective of the truth of the matter, this emotional argument resonated across the country and brought more focus on the disastrous foreign policy of the Biden administration and how it is impacting the common man. The Trump team also has been highlighting the immigration crisis at the border and successfully attributing the failure to Harris.
