I just got back from China, a country with an ancient culture and history similar to India, but unlike India, China is a real superpower today. Politicians and youth are obsessed with job creation. Did not hear cries for Chinese Maata ki Jai or scouting for beef eaters. Even the Tier 2 and tier 3 cities are pretty much like cities in the US. Law and order, women’s safety, infrastructure and cleanliness is not a concern.

Then I checked into our FB page and see the news item about politicians interfering in a marriage of a couple  because they think it is “love jihad” did not like it!!! Some of the youth who were commenting on the post asked this question “Why don’t Hindus marry Muslims and Christian girls? Well after having officiated the wedding of one conservative Brahim friend to his Christian wife and seeing many other Hindu husbands with wives from other communities, I wondered what a Hindu marrying a Muslim girl be called -  “Sanghi love”?  My friends were not deliberately planning to marry a Muslim girl as part of some conspiracy, they just fell in love.  

Unfortunately the “Sanghi love” brand did not get the opportunity to be promoted intensely like love jihad. Owaisi types have their hands full I guess. BTW What if a Sardar marries a Hindu or Muslim girl? Would it be OK to brand that as “Sardar love”?  

Another news item that had generated intense emotions on FB was a ruling by Madras High court that eating beef was not illegal. Some folks in the North East eat dogs, some in tribal villages eat rats. But should it make dog eaters/rat eaters savages? Should we go about killing the rat eaters and dog eaters too?

What I notice is that many of these comments on FB, though coming from English speaking folks, do not  appear to have the exposure of knowing or living together with members of other communities. Part of this could be segregated living in many parts of India where one community lives in distrust or fear of the other community (often created by our political masters). Many of these folks in the cow belt would benefit from a visit to Kerala where Hindus including Sanghis eat beef and many Muslim eat pork and celebrate Eid and Diwali together. Since the export of feudalism to Kerala is on, I am not sure how long the communal harmony will last through…

While I was in China, I also learnt that our young Chief Minister of Maharashtra wanted all those who do not shout out Bharat Maata Ki Jai to leave India!!

So while our politicians and youth are obsessed with beef and Bharath Maatha and love jihad and moving back to a feudal age, the Chinese are single mindedly focused on the capitalistic pleasures of job and wealth creation. THAT my friends is the reason why China is a successful super power.
