An appeal to the people of Pakistan.

In this moment of grief we are united in our support for you, words cannot console the hundreds of parents grieving in the wake of this tragedy. You would have seen the outpouring of support from India as well as from across the world in the wake of this tragedy. We understand that at the end of the day, it is the common man who is hurt by terrorism. At Netamaker, we primarily focus on India and how we can improve our political system (a lot to be done here) but what has happened in Pehsawar is such a horrendous act which is nothing short of an insult to humanity, and hence this letter addressed to the people of Pakistan. Our intent is not to hurt the sentiments of the people of Pakistan at this difficult moment or to take a moral highground here. This may be not the best time to discuss this, but as painful as it is, isn't this also a time for introspection? We are two countries, with pretty much the same kind of people, who share the same language, food and color, separated for political reasons, who started off the journey as two independent countries at the same time in the backdrop of a painful separation process.    India has taken the path of a secular democracy, and despite issues big and small continue to make progress. We do not claim that we are perfect or do not have challenges, including our fair share of criminals in politics and some elements of extremism and hatred. And of course, the fringe elements in our society shout out and act out now and then, but the vast majority of India is concerned with moving forward as a democratic and secular country. It is the majority Hindu community that fights ferociously for the rights of Muslims, Christians and other minorities in the country, which is an example worth emulating. Maybe it is time for people of Pakistan to FORCEFULLY ask some questions out loud such as "why there are so many terror franchisees floating around freely in Pakistan" and "why Bin Laden found a safe haven there"? "Can your politicians wholeheartedly say that they go all out against extremist elements in the country"? "What is the status of minorities in Pakistan"? Shouldn't there be an honest political debate in Pakistan as to what is really going wrong with the country? The Malala incident should have been a turning point in your history but unfortunately we did not see a major change. This is the time for you to decide if Pakistan should be a modern society OR a mullah society, you just CANNOT  blame it on the politicians anymore. I am sure most of the people of Pakistan are asking these questions too, I guess they are just too terrified to speak out against the terrorists and some of the vested interests who provide covert  support for some terrorist organizations. But terrorists do not survive without at least some sympathizers in the country and the sympathizers of terrorists know who they are. It is a shame that Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi has been given bail right after the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharfif announced that he will go after each and evry terrorist. Between Mullah Fazlullah and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Pakistan seems to  have decided that Lakhvi, who only kills Indians, is better than Fazlullah, who takes the lives of Pakistanis, especially those in uniform.Just last week, Hafiz Saeed assembled five lakh fanatic followers in Muridke to preach for jihad against India. But the bottom line is - There is NO GOOD TERRORIST OR BAD TERRORIST.... they are all just TERRIBLE!!! Despite the tragedy ensuing from terrorism's all time low act, let us hope that we can stand up together as two nations united by our common past and our present pain to unanimously reject terrorism in all shapes and forms. Together, let us rise above our differences to STOP this MADNESS!!
